UAE and UN health agency sign a host country agreement to solidify partnership

The UAE and the UN health agency have signed a host country agreement . The agency has been in the country for a long time.  Its operations from the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office Hub in Dubai have expanded 10-fold in recent years. The hub's expanding operations signify the durable logical infrastructure in place and the strategic location of the UAE. But there has also been an unfortunate increase in demand to address health emergencies across the globe. The UAE has also contributed $3 million in support of the UN health agency’s operation in Chad to address the different requirements of Sudanese refugees. This amount is going to be used for enhancing the people’s access to quality maternal and child health services. UAE Helps Women and Children in Chad Affected by Sudan Crisis

  Despite significant assistance already provided to refugees fleeing the conflict in Sudan, the UAE continues to enhance its support. The UAE has allocated $10.25 million in aid to various United Nations groups, focusing on the most vulnerable, particularly women and children. The funding will be distributed as follows: 1. $3 million to the World Health Organization to support mothers and children. 2. $2 million to UNFPA for women’s health programs. 3. $250,000 to the World Food Program for food assistance. 4. $3 million to help refugee women integrate with local communities. 5. $2 million to support women’s groups and their communities. On September 13, 2024, prominent UAE leaders visited Chad to assess the situation and engage with both refugees and local officials. They also interacted with the United Nations to discuss ongoing aid efforts.
