UAE’s humanitarian support for Gaza reaches $828 million

  UAE's humanitarian support for Gaza as the brutal Israel-Hamas fighting rages on has reached $828 million. It represents 42% of the total aid supplied since the beginning of the fighting. There is more. In order to support the already fragile healthcare sector in Gaza, the UAE has contributed at least $18 million. Last year, the UAE launched its field hospital in Gaza as part of Operation ‘Gallant Knight 3’. The facility recently marked one year of functioning. The Emirates Humanitarian City ensures a safe place for Palestinian families. The UAE has allocated close to $95 million to the emergency sector in Gaza. This includes relief shipments through different routes. Led by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE is one of the first countries to start humanitarian operations in Gaza. International officials from UN humanitarian organisations have praised the Gulf state for its generous support.

UAE Aid Agency to further strengthen Gulf state's global humanitarian efforts

The UAE is one of the most prominent donor countries globally. On Monday, President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed issued a federal decree to establish the UAE Aid Agency . The entity shall have full legal capacity to act. The aid agency's responsibilities include planning, executing and monitoring official government support, particularly focusing on disaster relief, early recovery programmes, post-conflict stabilisation, and capacity building programmes. This is a major development by the UAE government to help address the needs of those in need, irrespective of the people's location or identity. From the beginning of 2021 to mid-2022, the country has dispatched more than $3.5 billion in foreign assistance. HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, noted: "This approach reflects the UAE's dedication to addressing humanitarian challenges and forstering sustainable development globally."
