International Day for Tolerance: UAE’s Efforts in Promoting Diversity and Understanding Recognized Globally
In 1996, the UN general assembly convened Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on November 16. People are more connected today – but this does not mean there is more understanding. Sectarian tensions can be found at the heart of many conflicts. Tolerance is much more than passively accepting the other. It must be taught, nurtured and defended. On the International Day of Tolerance , let us pledge to forge a path defined by dialogue, social cohesion and mutual understanding.
