The UAE is implementing a comprehensive new traffic law, set to take effect on March 29, 2025, to reinforce road safety and impose more severe penalties for traffic violations.
Federal Decree Law No. 14 of 2024, officially published on the UAE's legal documentation site, outlines major updates regarding driving licenses, vehicle impoundment, and reckless driving offenses.
With the new law in place, police will have greater authority to penalize individuals responsible for severe traffic infractions, including hit-and-run incidents and drunk driving. The legislation also prioritizes pedestrian safety and enforces stricter penalties for accidents that result in loss of life.
By tightening regulations and enhancing enforcement measures, the UAE aims to foster a safer and more responsible driving culture across the nation.
