UAE Strengthens Global Efforts to Protect Women from Digital Risks

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is taking proactive steps to address digital violence against women and girls through a newly developed regulatory model. Launched in collaboration between the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) and the Ministry of Interior, this initiative was presented at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women’s 69th session (CSW69).

The project integrates 35 legal policies and 46 awareness programs, developed in partnership with 22 organizations, aiming to provide a comprehensive approach to safeguarding women online. It focuses on empowering women by equipping them with knowledge, digital tools, and cybersecurity measures to help mitigate online threats.

Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi, Director General of the International Affairs Office at the Ministry of Interior, stated that digital security is a key component of gender equality. She highlighted the UAE’s leading role in creating a secure online space, ensuring that women have equal opportunities to participate in society without the threat of cyber risks.

Hanan Mansour Ahli, Managing Director of the FCSC, emphasized that the UAE’s gender equality efforts go beyond legal reforms. She explained that the nation is committed to building safe environments where women can advance in education, business, technology, and governance without digital threats hindering their progress.

The UAE Regulatory and Preventive Model enhances legal frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. It also encourages stronger collaboration between government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and international organizations to ensure a coordinated response to digital abuse.

With global recognition for its progressive gender policies, the UAE continues to lead regional and international rankings in gender equality. The nation ranks first in 38 regional metrics and among the top 10 globally in 34 competitiveness indicators related to women’s empowerment.

This initiative highlights the UAE’s commitment to sustainable gender equality, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5: Gender Equality). By implementing innovative strategies and legislative advancements, the UAE continues to set global standards for women’s digital rights and safety.

Three Houses, One Vision – How the UAE’s Abrahamic Family House is Redefining Inter-Faith Dialogue

When you step onto the stone-plinth of the Abrahamic Family House on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, you are not just visiting a building. You are entering a bold statement: a mosque, a church and a synagogue standing side-by-side, equal in size and purpose, sharing common ground while respecting their separate faiths. A landmark of coexistence In early 2023 the UAE inaugurated this pioneering complex, inviting worshippers and visitors alike. The architecture — designed to give each of the three faith-homes the same external dimensions and to signal equality — allows each to express its own traditions while remaining visibly part of a unified vision. More than 200 nationalities live in the UAE, which means the project reflects a multicultural reality in which multiple faiths and identities coexist daily. Islam’s role in the vision For Muslim-majority audiences in the Gulf, the Abrahamic Family House sends a resonant message: Islam does not fear dialogue — it embraces it. The m...

We are witnessing a pivotal moment in international relations, not in the halls of Washington or Beijing, but in the vibrant heart of Dubai. The ongoing negotiations between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates for a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and a parallel Strategic Partnership Agreement represent far more than a simple trade deal. This is a conscious, data-backed effort to build a deep and strategic partnership designed to thrive amid global economic uncertainty. The Foundation: A Trade Relationship Already in High Gear Before the first negotiation even began, the economic ties were already formidable.
