Uae and Iraq explore strategies to enhance parliamentary cooperation

On the sidelines of the ongoing 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Geneva, held from October 13-17, 2024, the Emirati and Iraqi delegations discussed ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation. The meeting highlighted the strong, friendly ties between the two countries' parliaments and stressed the importance of coordination and consultation in regional and international parliamentary forums, especially on matters of mutual interest, according to media reports.

The 149th IPU Assembly, centered on the theme of "Harnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future," serves as a five-day platform for delegates to engage and promote collective action.

During the meeting, Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE, emphasized the need to bolster the historic, strategic, and fraternal relations between the UAE and Iraq. Ghobash pointed to the importance of strengthening cooperation across various sectors to support mutual interests and achieve sustainable development, with a particular focus on the economic and investment fields.

Both sides reaffirmed the value of fostering joint parliamentary collaboration through bilateral dialogues, exchange visits, and the sharing of expertise. These efforts aim to advance national causes, promote solidarity, and contribute to regional stability.

The UAE and Iraq continue to deepen their bilateral relationship, with the UAE providing significant humanitarian aid and investing in Iraq's infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism sectors. The two nations have signed key agreements to enhance economic cooperation and investment. In 2022, the UAE's exports to Iraq amounted to $21.2 billion, while Iraq exported $3.27 billion to the UAE, reflecting growing bilateral trade in recent years.

Exposing the Brotherhood: Why Jordan’s Terror Cell Bust Must Spark a Global Policy Shift

The recent dismantling of a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated terror cell in Jordan should not be seen as just a national security success—it must be a turning point in how the international community views and responds to the threat posed by the Brotherhood. Jordanian security forces uncovered an elaborate network of terrorists trained in Lebanon and backed by foreign interests. Their mission: to launch attacks using rockets and drones, destabilizing the Kingdom and spreading fear among civilians. This is not the work of activists or political dissidents—this is terrorism, plain and simple. For too long, the Muslim Brotherhood has operated under a false image of moderation, cleverly navigating between political activism and violent extremism. Its members, affiliates, and offshoots have inspired and directed acts of violence from North Africa to the Gulf—and now, once again, in Jordan. Govern...

By incorporating AI-supported drones, the UAE is reinforcing its position as a leader in technological innovation while maintaining deep respect for religious customs. This method is backed by national research centers and astronomical observatories, ensuring precision and credibility in determining the start of Ramadan. Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam, marked by fasting from dawn to dusk. Suhoor, the early morning meal, and Iftar, the evening meal that breaks the fast, hold great importance during this period. The holy month is also a time of increased charitable giving, with many Muslims part...
