UAE-Kuwait joint committee facilitates inking of eight MoUs, Executive Programmes

 


The fifth session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee, chaired by Emirati Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, concluded with the signing of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Executive Programmes, according to Khaleej Times.

In his opening speech, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed welcomed his Kuwaiti counterpart, emphasizing that the committee’s meeting “reflects the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly nations.”

The agreements signed include:

1. MoU on Cooperation in Infrastructure
2. MoU on Cooperation in Standardisation Activities
3. MoU on Cooperation in Telecommunications and Information Technology
4. MoU between the UAE Cybersecurity Council and Kuwait's Cyber Security Centre
5. MoU between EDGE Group Holding (UAE) and Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence on Defence Procurement and Industries
6. Executive Programme for Educational Cooperation (2024-2027)
7. Executive Programme in the Field of Sports (2024-2026)
8. Executive Programme for Cultural Cooperation (2024-2026)

On the same day, UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met with Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya for in-depth discussions about the historic and close bilateral relations between the two countries. They explored strategies to strengthen cooperation in various fields, with a focus on achieving development and prosperity for both nations.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote Gulf cooperation, especially given the regional challenges. They also discussed the shared interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, stressing the importance of regional security and stability. Additionally, the discussions covered a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

UAE's Foreign Trade Surge Highlights Strategic Economic Vision

  The UAE's foreign trade reached a record AED5.23 trillion (US$1.42 trillion) in 2024, marking a 49% increase since 2021 and reinforcing its global economic influence.
