UAE delegation participates in key meetings during 79th UN general assembly

 


The UAE delegation participated in several important high-level meetings during the first day of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, engaging in key discussions with Member States, UN officials, and relevant stakeholders. 

The delegation addressed priority issues including the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, reinforcing global health and prosperity, preventing and resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and tackling the climate crisis.

The UAE’s active role in the 79th UN General Assembly was highlighted by their participation in multiple meetings covering the humanitarian response in Gaza and Sudan, climate resilience in relation to rising sea levels, the future of artificial intelligence, bridging the digital divide, and other relevant topics.

Emirati representatives attended an event focused on leveraging the transformative power of artificial intelligence and cross-border collaboration to enhance the data available to decision-makers and key officials across the Middle East.

During the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the UAE seeks to maintain its role as a reliable partner in supporting international efforts to build stable and prosperous societies, according to official media reports.

Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, engaged in discussions with Hillary Clinton, former US Secretary of State, and Martin Griffiths, former UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

Sheikh Shakhboot, Minister of State, took part in the Sixth Summit of the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to promoting sustainable prosperity and development on the continent.

Meanwhile, the 79th United Nations General Assembly coincides with UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s high-profile visit to the US. On September 25, he met with several US senators to discuss opportunities for enhancing UAE-US relations on various levels. His Highness emphasized that the relationship between the UAE and the US is built on solid foundations of trust, mutual respect, and shared interests. He underscored that the US remains a key ally of the UAE, having been a central part of its foreign policy for over 50 years.

Sheikh Mohamed also held detailed discussions with US President Joe Biden. During the official visit, His Highness addressed ongoing challenges in the Middle East, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to countering violence and terrorism.

UAE's Foreign Trade Surge Highlights Strategic Economic Vision

  The UAE's foreign trade reached a record AED5.23 trillion (US$1.42 trillion) in 2024, marking a 49% increase since 2021 and reinforcing its global economic influence.
