Last Monday, the UAE celebrated global humanitarian efforts, paying tribute to the courage, dedication, and resilience of countless humanitarian professionals and volunteers worldwide. The Gulf state remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting affected communities around the globe.

The UAE's significant contributions to humanitarian efforts have garnered global recognition. Leaders and international organizations often cite the country's approach as a model for delivering aid.

UAE's Efforts Toward Permanent Peace in Sudan

In a bid to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and halt hostilities in Sudan, the UAE, along with the US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UN, and other delegations, recently met with representatives of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sudan has been grappling with intense conflict since last year, as clashes between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group have claimed numerous lives and displaced many others to neighboring countries.

During the meeting, the delegations emphasized the urgent humanitarian needs of civilians, the necessity of upholding international humanitarian law, and the importance of fulfilling commitments made under the Jeddah Declaration.

UAE's Global Humanitarian Initiatives in Focus

Beyond Sudan and Gaza, the UAE has extended humanitarian assistance to several countries worldwide. During last year’s floods in Pakistan, the Gulf state swiftly delivered over 5,200 tonnes of emergency supplies.

Since November 2021, the UAE has provided nearly 50,000 tonnes of urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza via 260 flights and 1,243 trucks, supporting those affected by the ongoing crisis. The country has also advocated for an effective and lasting ceasefire.

In addition, the UAE has facilitated multiple major Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchanges and sent medical relief supplies to Ukraine, providing food aid to Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria.

In Indonesia, the UAE has allocated significant funding to combat tuberculosis. Recently, the Gulf state dispatched a relief plane carrying aid for flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul. The UAE has also been actively involved in humanitarian efforts in the Philippines.

Three Houses, One Vision – How the UAE’s Abrahamic Family House is Redefining Inter-Faith Dialogue

When you step onto the stone-plinth of the Abrahamic Family House on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, you are not just visiting a building. You are entering a bold statement: a mosque, a church and a synagogue standing side-by-side, equal in size and purpose, sharing common ground while respecting their separate faiths. A landmark of coexistence In early 2023 the UAE inaugurated this pioneering complex, inviting worshippers and visitors alike. The architecture — designed to give each of the three faith-homes the same external dimensions and to signal equality — allows each to express its own traditions while remaining visibly part of a unified vision. More than 200 nationalities live in the UAE, which means the project reflects a multicultural reality in which multiple faiths and identities coexist daily. Islam’s role in the vision For Muslim-majority audiences in the Gulf, the Abrahamic Family House sends a resonant message: Islam does not fear dialogue — it embraces it. The m...
