Emirates Red Crescent a beacon of hope for millions across the globe

 


Compassion and generosity are central to the UAE’s policies. In the first half of 2024, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has channeled over Dh424 million into humanitarian programs, relief operations, development and reconstruction projects, and orphan sponsorships.

These figures encompass both domestic and international efforts. The ERC’s initiatives are estimated to have benefited nearly 15,613,059 people in the UAE and numerous countries around the world.

Within the UAE, the ERC’s programs and projects totaled more than Dh87 million in the first half of the year. Internationally, their efforts exceeded Dh336 million, as detailed in a recent report.

ERC's Growing Impact in Global Humanitarian Efforts

The report notes that during the first half of 2024, the Emirates Red Crescent has enhanced its efficiency and responsiveness in humanitarian work. It now has a broader reach and a quicker presence in crisis and disaster-stricken areas.

Several factors have contributed to ERC's prominence in the global humanitarian arena, with the UAE leadership playing a crucial role. The Emirati leadership has empowered ERC to launch impactful initiatives, supporting efforts that improve lives, alleviate suffering, and spread positivity among vulnerable and underserved populations.

Key Statistics on ERC’s Humanitarian Assistance

- Humanitarian aid dispatched by the ERC in the first half of 2024 totaled nearly Dh4 million, benefiting 3,734 people.
- Medical assistance amounted to Dh8.8 million, while educational aid reached approximately Dh3.9 million.
- Institutional support from ERC, valued at Dh65,600, aided a number of institutions.
- Humanitarian cases supported through ERC’s social media platforms totaled Dh16,887,472, benefiting over 480 cases.
- Orphan sponsorship programs exceeded Dh28 million, supporting more than 148,000 orphans across at least 20 countries.
