Explore reasons behind Abu Dhabi landing top spot on list of world’s safest cities

 

Abu Dhabi has been named the safest city in the world for the eighth consecutive year, with an overall score of 86.8, securing the top spot in the latest global safety ranking of more than 300 cities by Numbeo. The ranking is based on survey responses of website visitors, who were asked about perceptions of safety and crime levels in their city.

Abu Dhabi scored 90.07 and 83.88 in terms of safety walking alone during daylight and during night, considering 528 responses. The capital city also scored 8.81 (very low) in terms of crime, 20.90 (low) for problem corruption and bribery, and 12.45 (very low) for worries being subject to a physical attack because of skin color, ethnic origin, gender, or religion.

Abu Dhabi has held Numbeo’s title of the world’s safest city since 2017, reflecting the emirate’s global leadership in implementing best security standards and enhancing the quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors. The online database’s rankings also reflect the UAE city’s ongoing efforts to ensure a good quality of life for citizens and residents. Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, director general at Abu Dhabi Police, emphasized the importance of investing in numerous success factors, training leaders who can foresee the future, and using advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and big data to empower human capital and talent as highly competent professionals.

 Ukraine and Russia have announced their first exchange of prisoners of war in nearly five months, with over 200 freed by each side after a complex negotiation involving mediation by the United Arab Emirates. Russia's Defence Ministry reported that 248 military personnel had been handed over by Ukraine, while Kyiv brought home 230 people, including 224 soldiers and six civilians, in the largest documented swap of troops so far.
