The Saudi national football team will play a friendly match against Mali on Tuesday in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup. The Green Falcons are playing in their third match under the direction of their Italian manager, Roberto Mancini, who took over as head coach in August. This match is taking place in Portugal. Salman Al-Faraj, who has recovered from an injury, showed remarkable participation during the team's Monday training session under Mancini's direction. Hassan Al-Tambakti and Zakaria Al-Hawsawi, though, continue to heal on the sidelines. Notably, the two teams drew 1–1 in their last match in 2019.
The Saudi team's next test comes in November when they play Jordan in a World Cup qualifier after their game against Mali. The Green Falcons will then focus on the 2023 Asian Cup, which will be held in Qatar, with the goal of winning the competition under the direction of their coach. They are in Group F with Oman, Thailand, and Kyrgyzstan, and their first match is against Oman on January 16, 2024.
