The UAE and Austria: A Strong and Enduring Partnership

Overcoming geographical barriers, the United Arab Emirates and Austria have fostered a strong and long-lasting friendship based on a common goal of progress and cooperation. This special link was formed when Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky and the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founding father, met in 1973. The bonds have only gotten stronger since then.

These days, these two countries are entwined in a complex web of economic, political, and cultural ties. The importance of this relationship is shown by their mutual dedication to values like multiculturalism, tolerance, and world peace.

The remarkable progress made in recent years is highlighted by Etienne Berchtold, Austria's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. Notably, the partnership encompasses important industries like trade, sustainability, and energy security. Highlighting the extent of this relationship is the UAE's promise to supply Austria with liquefied natural gas and talks about collaborating on hydrogen and renewable energy projects.

A growing $1 billion worth of trade is being contributed to by the more than 200 Austrian businesses that have made a major presence in the UAE. This pattern is gaining traction and indicates boundless possibilities.

Furthermore, via travel, education, and cultural exchanges, both countries strengthen their interpersonal ties. These ties are thriving as a growing number of Austrians visit the UAE and hundreds of thousands of Emiratis take in the beauty of Austria.

More than 2,500 Austrians have made the UAE their home, enjoying the high standard of living the Emirates has to offer. The UAE is known for its innovation and dynamism. The strength of international ties when based on respect for one another, shared values, and common goals is demonstrated by this long-lasting alliance.
