Like Qatar and Morocco, Saudi Arabia also wants to host international games. As such, the kingdom is very keen to be official grounds for the FIFA World Cup 2034 and declared its bid. But it’s going to be a tough selection for FIFA.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said their bid for the 2034 FIFA World Cup is a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s progress in all sectors. “The kingdom has quickly emerged as a leading hub and an international destination for hosting major events.”
Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal said hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2034 will help the country achieve its dream of becoming a leading nation in world sport. He said hosting a FIFA World Cup is a natural next step in Saudi Arabia’s football journey.
The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has invited bids from the Asian and Oceanian continental confederations for the 2034 World Cup. Saudi Arabia will likely face a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand; both countries successfully hosted the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
