Historic GCC-Yemen Meeting Aims for Peace and Stability


In a momentous journey, Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), broke an eight-year hiatus as the first GCC leader to visit Yemen's interim capital, Aden. This historic visit was driven by the unwavering goal of bolstering the strategic partnership between the GCC and Yemen. During his stay, Albudaiwi engaged in crucial discussions with Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, at the Presidential Palace in Aden.

The meeting centered on strengthening the alliance between the GCC and Yemen, with Dr. Al-Alimi providing updates on Yemen's recent developments and efforts, led by Saudi Arabia, to renew a ceasefire and initiate a comprehensive political process. The meeting underscored the necessity of regional and international pressure to alleviate Yemen's prolonged humanitarian crisis. Dr. Al-Alimi expressed gratitude for the GCC's steadfast support in confronting challenges to Yemen's identity and national economy, particularly after the coup by Iran-backed Houthi militias.
