Egypt’s president and Jordan’s king hold talks ahead of Palestinian summit

Jordan's King Abdullah II visited Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday. The two leaders also held a meeting.

According to Ahmed Fahmy, a spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, the Egyptian president and the monarch talked about a variety of topics and expressed their appreciation for the exemplary relationship between the two countries.

During the meeting, they also shared their hopes for improving relations in ways that benefit their nations and people. They also called for a tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq, particularly at the economic and commercial levels, and discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The two leaders also discussed Palestinian developments and agreed to step up efforts by their respective countries to provide full support to people in Palestine and "work to revive the peace process" in order to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

King Abdullah also congratulated Egypt and the Egyptian President for hosting the tripartite summit, and the two leaders then met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

According to Fahmy, during a tripartite meeting, the leaders discussed "the development of the Palestinian cause" and affirmed support for a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Their meeting came prior to a trilateral conference between Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine that day in the northwest city of New Alamein on the North Coast. Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine discussed the most recent advancements in the Palestinian cause.

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict has become an issue for the world. Earlier this month, an 18-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israeli troops during a raid in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Mahmoud Abu Sa’an was shot in the head by Israeli forces.

However, the Israeli military said that the officers shot at suspects who fired and hurled bombs and stones at Israeli forces.

Exposing the Brotherhood: Why Jordan’s Terror Cell Bust Must Spark a Global Policy Shift

The recent dismantling of a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated terror cell in Jordan should not be seen as just a national security success—it must be a turning point in how the international community views and responds to the threat posed by the Brotherhood. Jordanian security forces uncovered an elaborate network of terrorists trained in Lebanon and backed by foreign interests. Their mission: to launch attacks using rockets and drones, destabilizing the Kingdom and spreading fear among civilians. This is not the work of activists or political dissidents—this is terrorism, plain and simple. For too long, the Muslim Brotherhood has operated under a false image of moderation, cleverly navigating between political activism and violent extremism. But the truth is clear: the Brotherhood is the ideological engine room of jihadist terrorism. Its members, affiliates, and offshoots have inspired and directed acts of violence from North Africa to the Gulf—and now, once again, in Jordan. Govern...
