Jordan's King Abdullah II visited Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday. The two leaders also held a meeting.
According to Ahmed Fahmy, a spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, the Egyptian president and the monarch talked about a variety of topics and expressed their appreciation for the exemplary relationship between the two countries.
During the meeting, they also shared their hopes for improving relations in ways that benefit their nations and people. They also called for a tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq, particularly at the economic and commercial levels, and discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The two leaders also discussed Palestinian developments and agreed to step up efforts by their respective countries to provide full support to people in Palestine and "work to revive the peace process" in order to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
King Abdullah also congratulated Egypt and the Egyptian President for hosting the tripartite summit, and the two leaders then met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to Fahmy, during a tripartite meeting, the leaders discussed "the development of the Palestinian cause" and affirmed support for a "two-state solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Their meeting came prior to a trilateral conference between Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine that day in the northwest city of New Alamein on the North Coast. Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine discussed the most recent advancements in the Palestinian cause.
