Better economic relations: Oman and India sign protocol to amend double taxation

In an effort to boost bilateral economic relations, Oman and India recently signed an agreement to update protocols to address double taxation and tackle financial evasion related to income taxes. Some of the top exports to Oman by India include petroleum products, processed minerals and basmati rice. India, on the other hand, has purchased fertilizers from Oman, among other things. Oman and India also agreed to expedite discussions for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. This proposed CEPA is going to create a more favourable business environment by reducing or removing tariffs on a large number of products.

UAE dominated the Global Millionaire Migration List last year. The number of millionaires calling the UAE their home last year is much higher than anticipated. The US and Singapore took the second and third spots on the list. UAE’s deepening focus on humanitarian crises in Gaza, ceasefire efforts and post-conflict scenario

  The UAE team and those from Israel and the US are discussing a post-conflict scenario in Gaza . The talks included the possibility of the UAE and US temporarily overseeing the reconstruction of Gaza after the Israeli military leaves and until a Palestinian administration is able to take control. The US, alongside mediators Qatar and Egypt, is pushing for a Gaza ceasefire. The reconstruction of Gaza, including its political institutions, is expected to take years and cost tens of billions of dollars, requiring substantial international support. The UAE is one of the first countries to start responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. It had been reported earlier last month that the UAE’s total support for Gaza has already reached $828 million. International officials from UN humanitarian organisations are hailing the country’s support.
